The Pima County Board of Supervisors has approved a two-year road repair plan that includes the repair of over 429 miles of roadway in 518 neighborhoods across several unincorporated areas.
The board approved the road repair, which was recommended by the county's Transportation Advisory Committee in a recent 3-2 vote. The repair will include the Transportation Advisory Committee's list of roads in the unincorporated areas of Pima County, the City of Tucson, Sahuarita, Oro Valley, Marana and South Tucson.
The first year of the repair project will begin in the spring and will cover over 212 miles of roads in 254 neighborhoods, with the second year's schedule slated to occur in the fall pending funding approval.
Funding for the first year of the repair project will come from the 25-cent property tax that is part of the 2017-18 budget and will be distributed by district. District 1 will receive $4.75 million (25 percent), District 2 will receive $3.12 million (17 percent), and District 3 will receive $3.8 million (20 percent).
District 4 will receive a $3.7 million (20 percent) distribution of the road repair funds and District 5 will receive $3.4 million (18 percent).
The roads approved in the plan were based on poor rated roads and were prioritized based on the average of their daily traffic volume.
