Minot Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on March 14.
Customer Service Seminar features well known author, VJ Smith
The business community doesn’t have to be reminded that times have changed. The shift in the economy is affecting all of us. But one thing that remains the same, is the need for great customer service. Now more than ever it’s important. That’s why the Minot area Chamber of Commerce along with SRT Communications, Inc. is sponsoring “The Gratitude Workshop” through Chamber University. The three hour morning session will feature author VJ Smith of Brookings, SD. Smith wrote the book, “Richest Man in Town,” all about his friend Marty. The Walmart worker was known for his kind, gracious demeanor as he worked the check out at the big box store. Smith discovered Marty was no regular cashier as he witnessed him taking the time to interact with the customers and even coming around to the customer to shake their hand after the transaction.
Smith will touch on how important it is to be grateful for each and every customer. If you want people coming back, you have to give them a reason and something as simple as a smile and a thank you can make the difference. Ask anyone who knew Marty as they would have several cashier lines open, but Marty’s line would be the longest as people would insist on checking out with him.
