Dickinson Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on April 26.
In simpler times, many years ago, parents used to urge their children to “turn off that television set and go outside and play.” Well, Anytime Fitness of Dickinson believes everyone could use a little more active fun in our lives and that’s why the gym is hosting playful exercise events at Anytime Fitness Dickinson from 9am-10am the first three Saturdays during the month of May.
“Somewhere along the line, people started believing that exercise had to be hard work,” said Anytime Fitness manager, Laura Croswell “That’s simply not true. Many forms of exercise, especially outdoors on a beautiful spring day, will leave you busting-a-gut laughing – and we aim to prove it.”
The three consecutive “May Free Workouts” May 5th, 12th and 19th will be lead by personal trainers or gym staff members and they are designed for people of every fitness level. The workouts will feature fun events like relay races, obstacle courses and musical games. Everyone, not just Anytime Fitness members, is invited to participate.
“We’ve recently developed new fitness programs and a mobile app to help our members stay active whether they’re at the gym, in their homes or anywhere else,” said Croswell. “The May Free Workouts are another example of our firm belief that there are countless ways to lead a healthy lifestyle. You just need to find activities that are right for you – and we’d love to help you do it.”
The May Free Workouts concept, inspired by the grassroots efforts of a few Anytime Fitness clubs that regularly offer free outdoor “boot camps,” has grown into a nationwide campaign to promote physical fitness. The Anytime Fitness gym in Dickinson is one of approximately 1,000 Anytime Fitness clubs across the United States that will host the free outdoor exercise sessions this year.

“At Anytime Fitness, we’re passionate about helping people get to a healthier place,” said Schmaltz. “That can mean different things to different people. For some, it’s losing weight or gaining strength. For others, it’s improving balance or flexibility. The important thing is to find physical activities that you enjoy, so being active is something you look forward to – rather than dread.”
